Tourist
Attractions In Bodhgaya Bodhi Tree It
is the famous tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment. Planted in
19th century, this tree is situated behind the main temple and is said to be
the descendant of the original tree.
Mahabodhi Temple
Located at the site of Buddhas enlightenment, this pyramid shaped
holy structure was erected by King Ashoka. It is the most remarkable temple
in Bodhgaya. The marvellous statue of Buddha is made of black stone and is
very delicately carved out.
Vajrasna Unerringly
meaning the 'diamond throne', the Vajrasna is a stone platform which depicts
the place where Buddha is believed to have sit under the Bodhi Tree. The
great Buddha achieved enlightenment on the seat of stability and purified
himself.
Barabar Cave
These are total seven caves which depict the life of Buddha. Out of these
seven caves four are in the Barabar Hills. These are beautiful rock cut
caves which are situated approximately 41 kms from Bodhgaya.
