It is for good reason that Kerala promotes itself as “God’s Own Country”. The regions unique geographical features are outstanding; the Arabian Sea is in the west and the towering Western Ghats (a series of rocky-mountains recently awarded World Heritage status) are in the east. The fabulous network of 44 rivers form wonderful stretches of backwaters. Kerala has a shoreline of serene beaches and an equitable climate.
Kerala is proud of the quality of life enjoyed by its citizens. They enjoy 100% literacy and a world renowned health care system which delivers India’s lowest infant mortality rate and highest life expectancy rates. For administrative purposes Kerala is divided into 14 districts.
